For those who don't like squirrels! No Squirrels

If you'd rather not encourage the squirrels to feed in your yard, there are several things you can do to deter them:

  • Use Squirrel-proof feeders
  • Create squirrel-resistant setups
  • Offer food the squirrels don't like

Squirrel-Proof FeedersWBU Eliminator

The Eliminator

Our best-selling squirrel-proof feeder! When the weight of a squirrel lands on the perch ring, access to the seed is denied. The tension is adjustable, which means you have even more control over who feeds at the feeder. Not only will it deter black squirrels, but it can also be set to keep larger birds such at pigeons and grackles away yet still cater to cardinals! This feeder is very durable, and comes with our famous Lifetime Guarantee against damage - which means it will last forever!

Mini Squirrel-Buster

This feeder is lightweight and small in size, making it ideal for a porch or patio, or for giving as a gift. Because it's squirrel-proof, you can hang it anywhere that's convenient for you! Comes with a lifetime guarantee.

 Fundamentals Squirrel-Proof Feeder

A caged-mesh encloses this feeder, and being weight-sensitive, it will close off access to the seed ports if anything heavier than a large bird lands on it. This feeder is pre-set to the weight of the average grey squirrel. Offer black sunflower or a sunflower-blend for chickadees, woodpeckers, finches, nuthatches and more!

 Peanut+ Squirrel-Proof Peanut Feeder

The world's first squirrel-proof no-shell peanut feeder! Now you can feed the woodpeckers and nuthatches without fattening up the squirrels in your neighbourhood. The feeder's weight-sensitive shroud is adjustable, to exclude larger birds (like Jays) if desirable. Holds 2 lbs of no-shell peanuts or suet nuggets.

Heritage Farms Squirrel-Proof Feeder

This durable feeder holds lots of seed, and the large perch is ideal for cardinals as well as chickadees, nuthatches, and house finches. Also weight-sensitive, the front perch slides down when a squirrel is on it, lowering the green panel in front of the seed ports. With a generous capacity of about 5 pounds of seed, this feeder is sure to please you and your birds!

WBU On-Guard Cage

Use this cage to frustrate squirrels, grackles, pigeons and other large birds. Small birds readily go in and out of the cages to grab a seed and fly away to dine or hide the seed. Our cages will fit any size WBU tube feeder (for seed, peanuts and nyjer) and are easy to install and use.

 Squirrel-resistant SetupsWBU Squirrel Baffle Dome

Squirrel Baffles

Hang a dome or baffle above your feeder to prevent squirrels from climbing down to your feeder. Also acts a weather guard! Available in a variety of sizes and styles, for any feeder. Note: this will not be effective if the feeder is hanging in an area where the squirrel can jump to the feeder from the side.

Baffle a PoleAdvanced Pole System with Squirrel Baffle

By hanging your feeders from a pole, you can attach a squirrel baffle mid-way up the pole that creates a dead-end for squirrels when they try to climb up. The top of the baffle must be at least 5 feet (1.3 metres) above the ground, and the pole set-up itself must be at least 8 feet (2.2 metres) away from any object from which the squirrel could jump. This is also an effective way to raccoon-proof your feeders when you use an extra-long raccoon baffle. Learn more about the possiblities with our Advanced Pole System.

 Offer Food that Squirrels Dislike

Believe it or not, there do exist some foods that squirrels will not eat! Millet and nyjer are both a safe bet, but these foods are preferred by only some birds - what about cardinals and chickadees? Safflower Seed

The Safflower Solution

There are some feeders that cannot effectively be baffled against squirrels. These include window feeders, deck mounted feeders and feeders hanging near a tree trunk. In these situations, use safflower! Typically grey squirrels find it distasteful and will leave your feeders alone. As a bonus, most blackbirds will not eat safflower either. Safflower can save you money in the long run!
